WHAT TEA TO DRINK IN SUMMER?
During the summer, we often feel uncomfortable or hot. This discomfort comes from two main reasons:
1. The body loses water due to sweating, and dehydrated cells send signals of distress to the nervous system, prompting us to replenish fluids.
2. Inflammatory reactions in the body increase dramatically, leading to symptoms such as dry mouth, acne, and itching, making the body feel uncomfortable and agitated.
To address these issues, it’s essential to hydrate and provide anti-inflammatory substances to the body. One of the best drinks for this purpose is tea high in polyphenols, such as green tea and oolong tea.
Polyphenols are a group of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds that are excellent at combating heat within the body. However, drinking excessive green tea can lead to indigestion. Especially, the high tannin content in green Tea, when combined with proteins (meat, eggs, milk, beans, etc.), can create hard-to-digest compounds, precipitates, and even stones.
Therefore, you can drink green tea with short refrigeration (6–8 hours) or oolong tea, which has a lower tannin content, to address the issue of internal heat.
We hope everyone can choose the right type of tea and brewing method for this summer season.
